Every year, the Google I/O conference connects developers from around the world and showcases some of the brand’s newest innovations.

A “Save The Date” puzzle is released to generate excitement leading up to the event. These creative and challenging puzzles take the form of enigmatic videos, games, etc.

For I/O ‘22, I worked with Instrument x Google to help create the “Save The Date” as well as to animate the web and live visuals. The puzzle itself took the form of a fully playable music sequencer based on Euclidean rhythms. Built into the UI were clues designed to lead the user to a final screen and animated reveal of the I/O date.

My role as the motion designer was to work with the design and dev teams to build prototypes for how the app should move. I also created animations and Lottie files for the reveal, website, social content and conference screens.

This is a compilation of Instrument x Google IO work from 2018-2023 that I edited/animated together. The process itself was quite a puzzle.
